About

Creech St Michael is about 3 miles east of the county town of Somerset, Taunton. Taunton has been twinned with Lisieux in Normandy, France for over 25 years and its twinning links have been steadily growing since its inauguration.

Just north of Lisieux stretching to Pont l'Eveque is a valley known as the Vallée d'Auge. As the Taunton/Lisieux Twinning Association grew, a number of villages in the valley joined to form one large Association covering a large area encompassing Lisieux and the entire Vallée d'Auge.

French Village

In 1992, the villages of the Vallée d'Auge felt that there was sufficient interest in their own group of smaller villages to form a smaller independent Twinning Association with, ideally, a number of similarly sized villages on the outskirts of Taunton.

An initial approach was made by the Mayor of Coquainvilliers in 1994 which led to to a formal twinning ceremony for our communities in December 1995.  This twinning arrangement has developed to where we are today with many people in the parish of Creech St Michael, Somerset, enjoying a number of social activities both here and in the beautiful rural area of the Vallée d'Auge. Currently, seven villages; Breuil-en-Auge, Coquainvilliers, Fierville-les-Parcs, Le Torquesne, Manerbe, Manneville-le-Pipard and Ouilly-le-Vicomte are twinned with the parish of Creech St Michael.
