Reopening of Creech Bridge This photo is of the reopening ceremony of the 18th century bridge over the River Tone, Creech St Michael, September 29th 2000. Jackie Ballard, MP for Taunton, reopened the bridge with help from the children of Creech St Michael primary school. Shown here, Jackie Ballard has just unveiled the plaque which commemorates the reopening of the bridge, after having been closed for some six weeks for repairs, strengthening and a new footpath. The bridge is on the easterly approach from Ruishton and Ham into Creech St Michael. The actual wording on the plaque is as follows ... Creech Old Bridge (River Tone Bridge) Original three span masonry arch bridge built circa 1702 Widened with cast-iron cantilevers in 1848. Major strengthening work of all three stone arches including construction of new footway undertaken by Somerset County Council in conjunction with Creech St Michael Parish Council June/July 2000. Bridge reopened by Creech St Michael primary school with Jackie Ballard 29th September 2000. Flower exhibition, Creech, September 2000 This photo is of the flower arrangement that our Twinning Association entered in the annual Harvest Craft and Flower Festival at the Zion Baptist church, Creech in September 2000. The exhibit was made by Maureen Woolston with help from Anna Caddy, Sue Cavill and Lesley Scargill and is based on a "Hands across the sea" theme. The photo was kindly taken and contributed by Maureen Woolston and was our December 2000 guest photo of the month.
