Coquainvilliers is a town of 719 inhabitants at the time of the last French census in 1990. It is situated about 3 miles to the north of Lisieux. The name Coquainvilliers is derived from the word Gaugainvilliers, a Germain word, probably from the female name Gaugina and the latin word villare meaning farm, thus Gaugina's farm.
